About XnView

With XnView you can quickly and easily view, process and convert image files. The universal program is able to read more than 400 different formats and then convert them to other formats such as GIF, BMP, JPG, PNG, multi page TIFF. XnView can also display video formats, many digital camera formats and more exotic formats such as Amiga IFF and Calamus.

The Image viewer (Browser) is similar to Windows Explorer. You simply navigate the directory structure as desired and any image files found in a directory are displayed in miniature (Thumbnails). This lets you keep an overview of the images available at the same time as letting you quickly view and select specific images. XnView can be run without installation and this makes it perfect to be used as a "photograph album on CD", especially as it is free of charge for private use.

XnView lets you create the optimal defaults according to your needs and preferences, thereby letting you work in the most efficient manner. The integrated file operations such as copying, moving, creation of directories and files makes XnView the universal tool for graphics.

An additional features is that XnView is available on many operating systems e.g. Windows ?, LINUX, HP/UX. In addition, to change its display (e.g. headings, text) to over 40 different languages, including English, French and German.

Nost ar domāšanas parazītiem

Optimistiski raudzīties uz dzīvi mēdz traucēt sliktas domāšanas paradumi, kurus var nodēvēt ari par domāšanas parazītiem. Kādi tie ir?

Katastrofu inscenēšana. Domās inscenējam, ka varētu notikt kaut kas dramatisks - autoavārija, ugunsgrēks un citas nelaimes, - jo lielākas, jo labākas. Patiesībā sava prāta nodarbināšana ar šādām domām ir diezgan bezjēdzīga, jo diez vai no tā varam kļūst īpaši laimīgāki.

Salīdzināšana un spēle: ja vien man būtu tas... Ja vien būtu tik laba mašīna kā kaimiņam, tad gan es būtu laimīgs. Vai arī - tad, kad es būšu izdarījis to un to (pabeidzis augstskolu, nopircis dzīvokli, laimējis loterijā), man sāksies īstā dzīve. Šādas domas ir pašapmāns. Bieži vien to ietekmē atliekam svarīgus lēmumus un rūpes par sevi, kas būtu īstenojamas jau šobrīd.

Vainīgā meklēšana - plaši iecienīta spēle, kuras pamatā ir šāda shēma: tā vietā, lai es uzņemtos atbildību un būtu tas. kurš pieņem lēmumu un rīkojas, labāk atradīšu kādu. uz kuru novelt vainu par radušos situāciju. Un izvēles netrūkst - sākot ar tuviniekiem un kaimiņiem, beidzot ar politiķiem, kas sagandējuši dzīvi visos tās iespējamajos aspektos.

Atruna: nu ko tad es... Tā sakņojas mazvērtības sajūtā, kas liek maldīgi uzskatīt, ka citi ir daudz spējīgāki, prasmīgāki un labāki, lai veiktu kādu uzdevumu. Taču patiesībā arī šāda domāšana ir izvairīšanās no atbildības un lēmumu pieņemšanas - ko tad es, gan jau kāds cits to izdarīs manā vietā...

Vispārināšana. Ja vienreiz gadījusies kāda kļūda vai neveiksme - paradums īo vispārināt, attiecinot uz visu savu dzīvi. Raksturīgākie piemēri - man nekad neveicas, nekad nekas nesanāk, visi vēl man sliktu.
